S1Ep2 (Ho & Chu, 2025, August 14) discusses the short-term and long-term effects of four parenting styles defined by Garcia and Serra (2019) – Authoritative, Authoritarian, Indulgent, and Neglectful. It highlights how Indulgent Parenting Style fosters better psychological well-being in adolescents and adults, while Neglectful Parenting Style has the most detrimental effects on the child’s mental-health outcomes.
The best parenting style that which leads to the most optimal instrumental-developmental outcome in the child is the Indulgent Parenting Style (Garcia & Serra, 2019).
